What is the best way to see the Amalfi coast in Italy?
what airport do i fly into and what towns do i stay in
You can stay in any town along the Amalfi Coast and it will be gorgeous! Amalfi and Positano are the better-known towns, but expensive. Try one of the smaller towns for a fraction of the cost – Praiano, Maiori, or Minori. Definitely use the bus which runs along the coast road – so you can enjoy the fabulous views. Make sure you sit on the side of the bus closest to the water!

I’m getting married in Italy (Amalfi Coast) next year and need suggestions for a modern reportage photographer
Ideally looking for a local photographer to avoid additional travel expenses, €1500 max. budget. Would like to see examples of portfolio online.
Dear Faz I’m Eduardo Castaldo, a 29 years old Italian photographer based in Naples (few kms far from Amalfi). For what about weddings I usually work as assistant with Mario Spada, a very well known italian Reportage photographer, and our average rate for a full reportage style wedding work is not less than 1600 euros; His online website (www.mariospada.it) is not updated, new one is coming in next weeks, and you won’t find there wedding works. I can send you privatly in less than a week wedding examples to let you know our style and way of working.
Moreover if you would need any other kind of services to arrange your wedding don’t esitate to mail me, I could provide you any kind of service or people you would need (video, drivers, contacts and so on); I live and work in this area since I was born and I’m sure I could be helpful for you.
just a mail to tell me you’re interested and I’ll provide what you need.
have a nice time, eduardo
Where are the best places to spend 3 extra days in Europe using the rail system before going to Venice?
We fell in love with Italy while visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, & Genoa a few years ago and want to do something different for this trip. We used the train as our means to travel so we got to see a lot of the countryside. This time, we have a 12 day Greek Isle cruise departing out of Venice. Our plane lays over in Zurich, so we thought we might get off the plane there instead and jump on a train and see some of Switzerland (and maybe part of Germany) then meander our way down to Italy – perhaps spending only a night at each destination or maybe staying on the amalfi coast. We like to travel fast and see as much as possible! We have a total of 3 nights. Any 4-5 star hotels, points of interest, cities to visit or recommended itineraries would certainly be appreciated. We plan on purchasing a 3-country train pass.
Three days isn’t enough time for the Amalfi Coast if you’re going to Venice from Zurich in three days by train. It’s over 10 hours just to get from Zurich to Naples, then you need to hop on the Circumvesuviana train to get to Sorrento. From there, it’s a bus or boat to go further along the coast. Naples to Venice is another 6.5 hr trip.
Zurich is a nice place to spend a day. From there you could take the train to Verona via Milan pretty easily. A day in Verona and a day around Garda Lake is a good choice if you haven’t been there before.
Alternatively, you could take the train from Zurich to Munich. If you do that, you can easily go to Fussen on the train and see Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau Castles for a day, spend a day in Munich itself and catch the train to Venice from there.
You are probably better off just buying individual tickets rather than getting a Eurail pass, especially if you book the individual tickets in advance. There’s a discounted fare from Zurich to Munich for only 39 euro, for example, but the discounted rates tend to sell out fairly quickly. You would have to pay an extra supplement on the train with a Eurail pass. Most of the faster trains require an extra fee when you have a Eurail pass and you may need to have a prebooked reservation for some of the trains anyway. The Eurail pass only functions as a hop-on, hop-off option when you use the slower regional trains that may require a number of train changes to travel long distances.
